The Ministry of Environment and Water will participate in the European Commission’s annual European Mobility Week campaign. The theme in 2022 is “Better Connections”. Traditionally, the week takes place from September 16th to the 22nd.

After placing a strong emphasis on the health aspects of urban mobility in 2021, this year’s theme “Better Connections” reflects the initiative’s aim to bring people together. It was chosen to reflect the desire of people across Europe to reconnect with one another after months of isolation and restrictions.

People can connect by meeting in a square in the urban environment and stay connected to one another through public transportation. Better transport connectivity means better connected places and people, which is a key theme for the European Commission’s European Green Deal.

The campaign seeks to encourage the participation of municipalities, schools, nongovernmental, and business organizations. The aim of the campaign is to engage people in sustainable urban mobility initiatives that lead to reductions in air pollution, noise pollution, congestion, traffic accidents, and health problems.

The events organized annually on the occasion of the campaign resonate widely with the public and help promote the many environmental and health benefits of living an active lifestyle by walking, cycling, or using public transport.
