The winners in the 31st International Competition for Instrumentalists, Singers and Composers “Music and the Earth”, dedicated to Earth Day - April 22, were awarded. The event took place on April 26 at the Giant Crystals Hall of the National Museum “Earth and People” in Sofia. The competition is held under the patronage of the Minister of Environment and Water Rositsa Karamfilova with the financial support of the Environmental Management Enterprise (EMEPA).

Vladislav Georgiev, Executive Director of the EMEPA noted the importance of such initiatives, congratulating the organisers for helping to create an attitude of sustainable development and an understanding for the mission of environmental protection.

He read a congratulatory address from Minister Rositsa Karamfilova and hnaded the Grand Prize to Meng Jiaxing from the People’s Republic of China.

The competition inspires young artists to create and perform music dedicated to the Earth and its survival. In this way, it promotes, through art, a new moral attitude towards Nature, viewing Man not as its ruler but as its constituent, with the understanding that both present and future generations have equal rights to enjoy Nature as a living environment and a source of raw materials and energy.

The program continued with a concert by winners in the competition.
