• The Ministry of Environment and Water reminds local authorities to monitor the latest hydrometeorological information and forecasts for hazardous events

The volume of water stored in the complex dams is 15% higher than the volume recorded in June of last year. The fill rate of the complex and major dams is the highest in the last 10 years, compared to the figures reported for the same calendar period.

The following reservoirs are more than 90% full: “Srechenska Bara,” “Hristo Smirnenski,” “Yovkovtsi,” “Ticha,” “Kamchia,” “Yasna Polyana,” “Asenovets,” “Borovitsa,” “Studena,” “Kalin,” “Karagol,” “Pchelina,” “Belmeken,” “Vacha,” “Krichim,” “Kardzhali,” “Ivaylovgrad,” and “Rozov Kladenets.” The “Pchelina” and “Pancharevo” reservoirs are overflowing.

According to data from the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology, no precipitation is expected today. Tomorrow afternoon, brief showers will occur in parts of the Western half of the country, mainly in the mountains, accompanied by thunderstorms. Precipitation amounts: 1-3 mm, with 10-20 mm in isolated mountain areas. Over the next three days, many parts of the country will experience brief showers and thunderstorms; hail is also possible. The likelihood of precipitation will decrease over the weekend.

For 29 June 2026, the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (NIMH) has issued a Level 1 warning (yellow code) for high maximum temperatures throughout the country.

Today and tomorrow, river levels will remain largely unchanged. On July 1 and July 2, river levels are expected to rise as a result of the rainfall. Water levels will remain below the warning thresholds.

The Ministry of Environment and Water (MOEW) reminds local authorities to implement the measures outlined in the 2022-2027 Flood Risk Management Plans and to monitor the latest hydrometeorological information and forecasts for hazardous events published on the ministry’s official website.

The MEW manages water resources in 52 major and complex dams.
