The Deputy Prime Minister for Climate Policy and Minister of Environment and Water Borislav Sandov met with Boris Bonev, councilor in the Sofia Municipal Council and representative of Save Sofia. The two discussed measures to improve air quality and waste management in Sofia.

Both agreed that new stations are needed to measure air quality - at Orlov Most and at critical points, such as Zapaden Park, Hristo Botev, and Vitoshka Yaka. More stations will contribute to more comprehensive information on pollution sources and the necessary measures for individual neighborhoods.

In respect to air quality, two good practices from Poland were discussed: the introduction of a low-emission zone, which will concern cars and domestic heating and the placement of real time information boards with understandable data on air quality.

The two also commented on the possibility for a more sustainable solution and suitable place for the incinerator in Sofia. The need for brown containers for biowaste was also discussed.
