“Blagoevgrad is one of the most beautiful and clean cities in Bulgaria but, as everywhere, there are people who pollute. It is up to all of us to limit the uncontrolled dumping of waste. It has been proven that the cleaner it is around us, the less pollution occurs. And cleaner means healthier,” said the Minister of Environment and Water Borislav Sandov, who launched a campaign today for cleaning Blagoevgrad together with the mayor of the city Ilko Stoyanov.

Thousands of residents and guests of the city joined the first day of the large-scale initiative “Clean and green Blagoevgrad! It depends on us!”, which is held under the patronage of Minister Borislav Sandov. “I thank everyone who is involved in the campaign. For us, this activity is extremely important, because there can be many wonderful ideas, but without the participation of people, they cannot be realized. Together we have the opportunity to make our common home cleaner and more beautiful,” said Mayor Ilko Stoyanov. The minister and the mayor cleaned the area around the Hunting House Park and the Rosary. Employees of the municipal administration and RIEW-Blagoevgrad joined the common efforts.

The people from the Roma community in the city also showed serious activity, cleaning around their homes. Dozens of green areas, unregulated landfills, inter-block spaces, and terrains around sports facilities, kindergartens, and schools were cleaned thanks to the joint efforts of all participants.
