“One day we will keep this country clean together instead of having to clean together,” expressed his confidence the Minister of Environment and Water Yuliyan Popov today at the announcement of the 11th edition of the campaign “Let's Clean Up Bulgaria Together”. Traditionally, the Ministry of Environment and Water (MOEW) is a partner of the initiative organized by the bTV Media Group.

Minister Popov stated that 10 years ago he took part in one of the first campaigns to clean Bulgaria as a caretaker minister and today he sees how many followers it has attracted over the years. “We say that Bulgarians pollute a lot, then one day a year we all clean together. This is what I hope will change - to turn this into a cause for every day of the year, to change our attitudes towards littering our beautiful country with waste,” said Yuliyan Popov.

On behalf of the bTV Media Group, the Chief Financial Officer and Executive Director Tonislav Popov presented Minister Popov with a plaque and expressed his gratitude for the partnership and support by the Ministry of Environment and Water for the “Let's Clean Up Bulgaria Together” campaign. A plaque was also presented to the Mayor of Sofia Yordanka Fandakova. This year the volunteer activities will take place on 16 September - World Cleanup Day 2023.

During the most recent edition of the campaign last year, more than 2800 tons of waste were collected. With the financial support by the Ministry of Environment in the amount of nearly 84 thousand BGN through the Environmental Management Enterprise (EMEPA), 40 thousand bags and 40 thousand pairs of gloves were provided. A total of 3500 BGN for fuel for transporting the collected waste was provided to regional administrations.
