Funding
Construction of collecting systems and urban wastewater treatment plants require a lot of time and funds and usually begins with the elaboration of a feasibility study which determines the exact scope of the project, then the conceptual and detailed projects are designed together with tender documentation and other documents needed to apply for funding.
There are several main sources for funding urban wastewater projects in the country:
- Operational Program Environment
- Rural Development Program
- State budget
- Enterprise for Management of Environment Protection Activities (EMEPA)
In the pre-accession period EU funds were available throung ISPA and PHARE programs, which currently finance only projects which are ending.
